ACCESSIBILITY

Wheelchair Access

Wheelchair seats can be booked via our website and by phone (01638 475322). They can also be booked in person at the site pending availability.

In the screen, these are seats K6 and K8. The standard seats are removed to allow wheelchair access. The duty manager on the day will be expecting you and we can make them aware of any other access needs you may have. You are welcome to transfer into a seat, or we can remove the seat to make space for your wheelchair.

Kings Cinema’s retrofitted building presents a few access challenges, but we are committed to constantly improving access for all.

The Box Office, main bar and Auditorium have access from the street. Our box office counter also has a lowered section.

If you would like any assistance crossing the car park, presenting at the Box Office or calling on the phone number below, is advisable.

Accessible gender-neutral toilets These are found through the main bar area by the rear access door to the auditorium.

Deaf customers

All our auditoria are equipped with a system that delivers Audio Description (AD) or an enhanced soundtrack through a headset or a portable hearing loop. The AD runs every time a film with Audio Description is shown, and is undetectable to anyone not wearing a headset.

We show films with AD whenever the necessary files are made available by film distributors. Like a narrator telling a story, AD gives an additional commentary describing body language, expressions and movements. It gives information about things which are not made clear through the soundtrack. To reserve a headset or a portable hearing loop, please email us (info@kingscinema.co.uk), call us on 01638 475322 or ask at the Box Office.

Captioned screenings are different to subtitled screenings as they provide a transcription of all of the audio from a film, displayed at the bottom of the cinema screen. Along with the dialogue from the film, the subtitles include non-dialogue audio such as “(sighs)” or “(door creaks)”.

Guide Dogs

We are very happy to welcome trained assistance dogs (also referred to as service dogs or guide dogs) into the cinema who help to support our disabled patrons meet their access requirements. Your assistance dog should wear a recognisable leash/collar or harness.

If you’d like to bring your assistance dog into the cinema, let us know by emailing info@kingscinema.co.uk before you book your ticket so we can advise the most appropriate seating for our two screens.

If your assistance dog does not wear a recognisable harness, we will need to ask for some ID or documentation for their trained status before we allocate you a seat.

Please note that for the wellbeing of your dog as well as for our staff and other customers, unfortunately simply stating at our box office that this is your support animal will not be sufficient for us to allow them entry into the auditorium.

Free tickets for carers

Those with access needs will be charged the usual price for any screening. However, if you have a carer who needs to accompany you, they are entitled to a free ticket via use of a CEA card. These can be booked in advance over the phone (we won't charge the booking fee), or in person at the box office. We always recommend booking in advance to ensure you get the seats that meet your needs. Our staff know that not all disabilities are visible so we will not ask to see any ID.

Currently people who receive one of the following benefits are eligible for a CEA card:
